Coming to London for Christmas

We are often asked how many airports serve London and which is the best to arrive into. Well for some flights there is no choice as the routes automatically selects which airport you have to fly into, but if you have a choice these are the airports on offer.

Heathrow Airport: This is London’s main international airport approximately 18 miles from the centre (Trafalgar square).

It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to get from Heathrow to the heart of London by car. There is an underground rail system that also runs from Heathrow into town, but depending on the time , (especially rush hour) it can be very busy and not that easy or comfortable to travel on, especially if you have a lot of luggage and children, and the journey will still take approximately 45 minutes. There is an alternative to this. HARMONY CARS. They can supply a suited and booted chauffeur driver in a nice executive Mercedes or BMW to take you directly from Heathrow to your central destination from as little as £60 ($102), with no hassle, and the price is all inclusive of car park charges and up to 1 hour waiting time at the airport. This is ideal if there are less than 3 people travelling, if there are more, then Harmony cars can provide you a larger vehicle. This offers a good option as the cost for 3 passengers on the train will cost over £20 plus you will still have to get to your final destination when you get off the train which will cost you again, whereas the chauffeur service is direct door to door and at one affordable price.

Heathrow is considered by most Londoners to be London’s premier airport due to size and selection of routes and Airlines. All main Airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Airways, American Airlines, Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, Quantas, Delta, Emirates, and most of the other leading airlines all run from Heathrow Airport. Heathrow is considered worldwide as one of the largest airports in the world with 5 terminals, one of which is solely used by British airways.

Gatwick Airport: Is located approximately 35 miles south of central London and takes by train from Victoria station approximately 60 minutes. The cost one way is about £18 per person each way. If you are arriving very early or very late into Gatwick I would advise going by car as the trains don’t run a full 24 hour service, and Gatwick has a lot of chartered and budget airlines flying transatlantic, European and Internal flights using its facilities, so if you don’t arrive at your scheduled time you may have problems travelling onwards to your final destination. This can also be a problem if you are also trying to make a connecting flight from another airport. Heathrow is about 45 minute’s car ride from Gatwick.

HARMONY CARS can supply you a chauffeur car and driver, the tariff starts from £90($153), this is for a luxury sedan (Mercedes or BMW) which will hold up to 4 passengers and 2 suitcases. Larger vehicles are available on request. The journey time by road to central London is approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. There are 2 terminals at this airport; North and South, when making your reservation make sure you know which terminal you are travelling from. There are a few major airlines running from this airport they include British Airways, Virgin and the budget airline Easyjet.

Luton Airport: Located approximately 35 miles north of Central London. This airport is known for budget airlines such as Easyjet and Monarch which both offer low cost air travel all around Europe as well as internal flights, it is also very popular with holiday companies and charter flights, although there have been transatlantic flight operating out of this airport in the past I believe there are none operating at present. The airport takes about 1 1/4 hours to Central London by car. There is a bus service available run by Easyjet, it takes about 2 hours to get from Luton Airport to Central London using this service. HARMONY CARS offers a private executive transfer service from Luton Airport going to where ever you require and of course can offer a direct trip to Central London, the cost for an executive sedan to London is £90 ($153). This Airport can be more convenient than Heathrow depending on where you are staying in London as it is located north of central London and can sometimes be easier and quicker to get to when Central London is heavy with traffic.

Stansted Airport: Located east of central London Stansted has a main line rail service link into Liverpool st station in East London. If you take the train and are staying in central London you will require a cab once you get to Liverpool st to complete your journey. Stansted is used for European budget flights or charter flights and is also used for internal flights. There is currently one Airline operating a direct flight to New York. Stansted takes approximately 90 minutes’ drive to get to central London. HARMONY CARS offers a full chauffeur service from Stansted the cost for a luxury sedan to Central London is £85 ($145).

City airport: Located just 9 miles from central London although close by distance to the centre this airport still takes nearly 1 hour to travel to by car from Central London.

Used mainly by business people this airport offers flights to Europe and Internal flights.

HARMONY CARS offers a transfer service from here to all locations.

From City Airport to central London £60 ($102) in a luxury sedan.
