What’s on in London for June 2018

june 2018 londonThe Summer season is upon us and there are lots to do and see this month. The highlights are the Queens Birthday Parade, Ed Sheeran at Wembley, Beyonce and Jay Z at the London Stadium, West End Live in Trafalgar Square and lots more. See below for all the details of our chosen top ten events happening in London for June. No 1. 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th June 2018 “Zoo Nights” at ZSL London Zoo.

Visit more than 18,000 animals on Friday nights throughout June, and learn about their habitats in the magical setting of the zoo at sunset. www.zsl.org

Pick up cuisine from around the globe at the World Food Market. There are also plenty of activities to enjoy such as Wild Yoga sessions, the Zooniversity Challenge and fantastic entertainment, including live acrobats, comedy, animal feeds and music.

No 2. 5th to 25th June 2018 “Hampton Court Palace Festival”.

Watch top performers including Lionel Richie, The Beach Boys and Paloma Faith on stage at the Hampton Court Palace Festival in the beautiful open-air Tudor courtyard.

Other acts on the line-up include Joe Bonamassa, Jools Holland, Gary Barlow, and Tom Jones, as well as an evening of spectacular fireworks with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. www.hamptoncourtpalacefestival.com

Soak up the atmosphere in the historic courtyard of Henry VIII’s impressive palace as part of an intimate audience of 3,000. Plus, enjoy a picnic and sip on champagne in the stunning grounds before the show. Tickets: From £47.50

No. 3. 9th June 2018 “Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade”.

Marking the Queen’s official birthday, this annual event features hundreds of officers, horses and musicians from the Household Division in ceremonial uniform.

The Queen herself attends the ceremony. She is first escorted in a carriage from Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade. There, she carries out an inspection of her troops, before leading her guards in a parade back to Buckingham Palace. Once at the palace, the Queen takes the salute, and guns are fired in Green Park and at the Tower of London. Finally, she joins other members of the Royal Family on the palace balcony to watch the Royal Air Force flypast. Events begin around 10am and the RAF flypast takes place at 1pm.

No.4. 13th to 17th June 2018 “Taste of London” in Regent’s Park.

For five summer days every year, the park in central London is transformed into a foodie wonderland as 40 of London’s best restaurants gather to show off the hottest dishes from their extensive menus.

Plus, watch live cooking demonstrations, meet some of the capital’s leading chefs, participate in masterclasses and shop at more than 200 food and drink stalls.

Restaurants already announced for Taste of London 2018 include ROKA, Barrafina, Club Gascon, Hutong, Kricket and El Pastor.

This year, you can visit the new Fire Pit stage for flame-filled cooking demonstrations by hot industry names and sip on bubbles in the Champagne Laurent-Perrier Club House. There’s also the chance to enjoy a one-hour sit-down menu at the table of top chefs, including Niklas Ekstedt, Sean Gray and Manoella Buffara, in the Taste Residence. Tickets: from £17

No.5. 14th to 17th June 2018 “Ed Sheeran” at Wembley Stadium.

Ed Sheeran is an English pop singer-songwriter from Halifax, best know for tracks such as The A Team, Sing, Thinking Out Loud and Shape of You.

No.6. 15th to 24th June 2018 “Robert Smith’s Meltdown” at Southbank Centre.

The Cure frontman joins the ranks of M.I.A, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Ray Davies and Morrissey as curator of the festival at Southbank Centre.

Listen to a trailblazing line-up of rock artists during 10 days of live music, with highlights including Placebo, The Libertines, Manic Street Preachers, Deftones and Nine Inch Nails.

You can also catch performances from Death Cab for Cutie, Frightened Rabbit, Suzanne Vega, Maybeshewill and many more artists, as well as the immersive Liminal sound experience.

Closing the 25th year of the London festival Robert Smith also performs the exclusive two-hour CURÆTION-25 show in the Royal Festival Hall.

There’s also a range of free activities, including late-night afterparties, DJ sets in the Clore Ballroom and music on Southbank Centre’s Riverside Terrace. Tickets from: £20

No.7. 15th to 16th June 2018 “Jay Z & Beyonce: On The Run 2” at London Stadium.

The power couple join forces for a pop, hip hop and R&B extravaganza. Tickets: £20 to £160

No.8. 16th to 17th June 2018 “West End LIVE” at Trafalgar Square.

Returning to the iconic location for the 14th year, this free event offers thousands of people the chance to see the best of the London stage over one weekend.

West End LIVE 2017 featured classic West End musicals The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Wicked and The Lion King, as well as newer shows Bat Out of Hell, Dreamgirls, 42nd Street, Kinky Boots and Motown the Musical.

This free event is hugely popular and there is limited space, so be sure to get there early to secure a space

No.9. 22nd June 2018 “Lenny Kravitz” at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

The rock, funk and soul veteran returns to UK stages for the first time since 2015. Tickets: £47.50 to £55.
