What’s on in London for May 2014


Plenty going on this month, Sport, Music , special events, London has it all . Listed below are our top 10 events for the month, there is be something for everyone so enjoy what London has to offer and I’ll be back next month.

No 1.   4th May “Vaisakhi in London 2014”. Each year, London celebrates Vaisakhi, the Sikh New Year festival, in Trafalgar Square. Previous events have been very popular, with around 30,000 people attending during the day. This is a free, family day out featuring contemporary and traditional Asian music, dance, DJ sets and fun activities for children.

No 2. 6th May “Miley Cyrus — Bangerz World Tour” at O2 Arena. She’s come a long way since her Disney days… Miley Cyrus is now a global superstar with No.1 albums and singles all over the world. You can see what all the fuss is about . Ticket: £56 to £69

No. 3. 8th May “YES! — live” at the Royal Albert Hall. Classic prog-rock band YES have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, making them one of the most successful rock groups in history. You can catch them at the Royal Albert Hall, playing three of their most popular albums — “The Yes Album”, “Close to the Edge”, and “Going for the One”. Tickets: £35 to £40

No.4. 13th to 14th May “Barry Manilow” at Wembley Arena. One of the world’s biggest stars, crooning his way around the globe with big hits like “Mandy” and “Copacabana”. Try and catch him his shows are always spectacular.

No.5. 17th May “FA Cup Final Arsenal v Hull” at Wembley Stadium. This year’s final is between Arsenal and Hull. This should be an exciting game with the winner taking the FA cup and automatic European qualification.

No.6.   20th May “T20 cricket — England vs Sri Lanka” at the Oval, , Kennington. If you are interested in cricket then get yourself down to the Oval for some fast-paced T20 cricket, between England and Sri Lanka.

No.7. 20th to 24th May “RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2014”. Come and experience the world’s greatest flower show at London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea. Every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays for the world’s most famous flower show. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is attended by 157,000 visitors each year. Tickets sell out quickly and must be purchased in advance.

No. 8.   27th, 28th, 30th and 31st May “Katy Perry — The Prismatic World Tour” O2 Arena. This follows the release of her new No.1 album “Prism”. The show will feature a special standing pit called ‘The Reflection Section’, which will allow Katy to get closer to her fans than ever before. Support will come from the Swedish synth pop duo Icona Pop, who recently hit No.1 with “I Love It”. Tickets: £57.50 to £97

No.9. 30th May “England v Peru” Friendly at Wembley Stadium. Peru will be travelling to Wembley to take on the Three Lions. This will be England’s soccer teams last home game before the World Cup Finals in Brazil.

No.10.   30th to 31st May “An Evening with Julie Andrews” at the Eventim Apollo. Julie Andrews will be returning to the UK stage for a speaking tour, offering her fans a unique insight into her life and career with tales from her roles in ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘The Sound of Music’. Tickets: From £44.75.
