So many things to do and see this month, and just to get you in the Christmas mood, even though there is still a few months to go, The Natural History museum will be opening their Christmas ice rink with a full size Xmas tree and lights.

No 1. 5th to 22nd October 2017 “Erdinger Oktoberfest from Germany” at Greenwich Peninsula.

Enjoy a taste of Germany in picturesque Greenwich during the Erdinger Oktoberfest from Germany. With German beer, food and entertainment on offer, this is the most authentic way to celebrate Oktoberfest outside of Germany.

Overlooking the river Thames and Canary Wharf, the traditional Bavarian beer hall with a capacity for 3,000 guests plays host to some of Munich’s most famous Oktoberfest bands, as well as modern pop acts and DJs.

The American singer-songwriter famous for her single Heaven Is A Place On Earth celebrates her 30th anniversary and performs her hits. Tickets: £39.75.

No.6. 15th October 2017 “Diwali Festival 2017” in Trafalgar Square.

Join in the Diwali festivities in Trafalgar Square, as thousands of people come together to celebrate the Hindu, Sikh and Jain festival of lights.

Enthusiastically celebrated around the world, Diwali traditionally symbolises joy, love, reflection, resolution, forgiveness, light and knowledge; and represents the victory of good over evil, and light over darkness.

Everyone is welcome to celebrate the festival in Trafalgar Square. This year’s packed programme includes music and dance stage performances, family-friendly craft activities, yoga, henna art, and delicious food from India and beyond.

Diwali is timed to coincide with the new moon in October or November, so the actual date varies from year to year. In 2017, Diwali is celebrated on and around 19 October, however, the Trafalgar Square celebration takes place on 15 October.

No.9. 26th October 2017 till 7th January 2018 “Natural History Museum Ice Rink”.

Skate in the magical atmosphere of the Natural History Museum’s open-air ice rink.

Highlights from the collection include the cloud suit from the 1985 Raspberry Beret music video, the Gibson L65 guitar that Prince used when he made his TV debut on American Bandstand in 1980, and the orange Cloud guitar from his 2007 Super Bowl halftime show. Tickets: Adult £25.
