What’s on in London for October

nflThe days are getting dark earlier and the temperature is certainly becoming cooler in recent weeks, so why not start the month with a little live music.

On the 1st of October, the famous rock guitarist Carlos Santana is coming to London, and he will be entertaining fans by bringing his blend of rock and samba style music to the O2 centre. He doesn’t visit the UK too often, so don’t regret this opportunity to see a rock legend play live.

For you Basketball fanatics out there, the NBA comes to The London O2 Arena on the 4th. The Minnesota Timberwolves take on The Los Angeles Lakers, and you will have the chance to see such stars as Kobe Bryant in action.

The 12th sees the England football team play Montenegro at the Wembley Stadium in a qualifying game for Euro 2012. After a much publicised poor World Cup campaign, England will be looking to make it three wins out of three for their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. From the 13th till the 28th, the 54th London film festival will take place throughout central London. The festival will feature 197 full length films, and 112 short movies. There will also be a special selection of British films and during the month there will be opening nights for Director Mark Romanek’s “Never let me go” and Danny Boyle’s new film 127 hours.

One for the rugby fans, on the 16th Saracens will be entertaining former European Champions Leinster at Wembley Stadium in the Heineken Cup. Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll will just be one of a variety of names to grace the Wembley turf, as well as England Internationals David Strettle and Richard Wigglesworth. From the 22nd to the 24th Britain’s next top model 2010 is live from London’s ExCeL Arena. This show is ideal for the fashionable amongst you. The show also features beauty, health and fitness events and stands along with plenty of opportunities to shop and participate in a variety of interactive events.

On the 29th-31st The Relentless Freeze Show 2010 takes place at Battersea Power station. This is an event that combines winter sports with music, and there will be plenty of chances to get involved in Snowboarding and skiing, all taking place on 500 tons of imported real snow. The evening is when the music starts to kick in with headlining act Mark Ronson taking centre stage on the Saturday. Other top acts will be performing as well on each of the other nights of the Festival. Tickets will cost £36 per day.

Finally, rounding off the month with a bang; the NFL is in town. Wembley stadium to be precise, and this year sees the San Francisco 49ers go head to head with the Denver Broncos to show London the excitement of American Grid Iron Football, along with their own brand of glamour in the shape of their ever popular cheerleaders. This is an event that has attracted a great deal of attention in previous years and is not one to miss. There are still a few tickets left, with prices ranging from £75 to £125.
