What’s on in London for September 2018

A busy month with lots to do and see. Check out the new Theatre stage productions, and the big star performers coming to London this month. No 1. 2nd September 2018 “Alexandra Palace Antiques & Collectors Fair” at Alexandra Palace.

Held four times a year at the iconic Alexandra Palace, this Sunday Antiques & Collectors Fair is not to be missed. With over 300 inside stalls, the weather is never at issue at Alexandra Palace. With facilities including restaurants and bars, free parking, ATMs and taking place in such a historical building – this fair has a lot to offer!

Also featuring Pop Up Vintage Fairs London – award winning fairs organisers with stalls including a mix of vintage ladies and menswear, jewellery, accessories and retro homeware together with mid-century collectables & curios. Tickets: £6.

No 2. 3rd September till 24th November 2018 “Heathers The Musical” at Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Following its initial run at The Other Palace, the acerbic rock musical based on the cult 1988 film with a book, music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy transfers to the West End. Carrie Hope Fletcher reprises her role as Veronica, memorably played by Winona Ryder on the big screen. Directed by Andy Fickman and choreographed by Gary Lloyd. Tickets: £15 to £55

No. 3. 5th September till 7th October 2018 “Eugenius!” at The Other Palace, Palace st ,SW1.

Ben Adams and Chris Wilkins’ homage to all the great sounds of the ’80s plus a scintillating script that makes you laugh, cry, and punch the air shouting “Go Eugenius!”. This is a show where geeks rule, dreams come true, and everyone finds the superhero inside themselves. Tickets: £23.40 to £65.40

No.4. 12th to 16 September 2018 “Greenwich Comedy Festival 2018” at National Maritime Museum.

No.5.   16th September 2018 “Pearly Kings and Queens Harvest Festival” at Guildhall Yard.

Dressed in their best dark suits covered in hundreds of bright pearl buttons, the Pearly Kings and Queens of London are a charming and unforgettable sight. Getting together for the biggest event in the Pearly calendar, they celebrate the bounty of the autumn harvest with traditional entertainment in front of Guildhall from 1.30pm, before parading through the streets to St Mary Le Bow Church for a service of thanksgiving.

Expect Morris dancing, maypole dancing, marching bands and lots of colourful characters at this traditional free event.

No.6. 26th September till 22nd December 2018 “Company” at Gielgud Theatre.

Director Marianne Elliott reimagines the legendary musical about life, love and marriage with the lead role of Bobby recast for the first time as a 35-year-old woman, questioning why she isn’t married. Rosalie Craig stars as Bobbi opposite Tony and Olivier Award winner Patti LuPone as Joanne and Mel Giedroyc as Sarah, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. No.7. 26th to 28th September 2018 “Kylie Minogue: Golden” at The O2.

The Australian superstar performs classic pop from her back catalogue and latest album, Golden. Tickets: £70 to £150

No.8.  27th September till 28th October 2018 “Erdinger Oktoberfest London” at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Enjoy a whole month of Bavarian-themed fun, join 3,000 lederhosen and dirndl-dressed guests in a Bavarian beer garden, as the world’s largest wheat beer brewery, Erdinger Weißbräu, brings the authentic German festival to east London.

Sing and dance to some of Munich’s famous Oktoberfest bands, eat traditional German food such as pork knuckle and apple strudel, and enjoy a stein of Erdinger beer served by German waiters. There are also funfair rides, plus merchandise and souvenirs to buy. Tickets £5 to £32.

No.9. 29th September 2018 “Michael Buble” at The O2.

‘To Be Loved’ is Michael Buble’s sixth studio album following his ‘Christmas’ album which sold seven million copies internationally and was the second biggest selling album of 2011 after Adele. The album was produced by Bob Rock and recorded in Vancouver and Los Angeles. It includes a mix of standards as well as four original songs all co-written by Buble including ‘After All’, which was co-written and performed by fellow Canadian Bryan Adams. The album also includes hits previously recorded by some of Buble’s musical heroes including the Bee Gees hit ‘To Love Somebody’, Dean Martin’s ‘Nevertheless (I’m In Love With You)’, the Jackson 5 early ’70s smash ‘Who’s Loving You’, Jackie Wilson’s ‘To Be Loved’ and the Elvis Presley classic ‘Have I Told You Lately’. Buble is joined by actress Reese Witherspoon on the classic Frank and Nancy Sinatra duet ‘Something Stupid’. Tickets: From £45.

No.10. 29th to 30th September 2018 “The UK Guitar Show 2018” at Olympia London.

The brand new UK Guitar Show is the ultimate weekend for all fans of both electric and acoustic guitars . This show is set to be a fantastic weekend celebrating all things guitar, with something to inspire and enthuse visitors of all ages and abilities. Enjoy a full programme of performances and masterclasses across the intimate Main Stage and Modern Acoustic Masterclasses at the show.
